CPP Price Increase

Just noticed that the CPP Briggs Vanguard engine upgrade kits have become significantly more expensive. The 18hp kit for the Yamaha G-16/22 went from $1995 to $2250 -- that's a 13% increase overnight! The other kits have experienced a similar fate. Probably a decision maker.

I would suspect that CPP saw an increase in their costs, and had no choice but to increase. If you are serious about a big block kit, I would not let it bother me too much, you will not get better customer service elsewhere.

Its called inflation, but lets not get into that. I agree they know their stuff with bigblocks. My home insurance went up about 15% this time so no surprise, I complained and they told me too many people burning down homes to get out of foreclosures. So I been watching for them on the news and not seen any yet....strange....

Here are the numbers:

18 hp Vanguard Engine (retail) $1200
Clutch (06) (from CPP) $325
Motor Mount (from CPP) $189
Lo tone muffler (#690931) (from Amazon) $142
______
Subtotal $1856

That leaves you with an extra $400 in your pocket to cover the cost of putting together a wiring harness (that is included in the CPP kit which now lists for $2250). That's either a lot of wire or the price of package-deal convenience.

Like the other members have said you won't find any better seller to deal with and Tom is the authority on big blocks in my opinion (and a whole lot more folks),he also runs a legitimate business with a bunch of overhead.That's the wonderful thing about the freedom of living in the USA(THANK YOU SERVICE MEN & WOMEN),you are free to buy from whom ever makes you happy

I think if Tom is only making $400.00 for the job of putting a complete kit together including wiring he's not making enough, he has done the complete research on what makes a reliable Big Block kit with easy installation, he has to stock all the parts to have them ready when a customer wants a Big Block kit and that's takes money out of his account to sit in stock waiting on a buyer. I think anyone that buys a Big Block kit from Tom get a great deal plus you get Unsurpassed Tech Support, not a guy on the phone that you can't understand his language. That's my two cents!!
