Crankshaft help quick!!!!!!!!!!
I am running out of time to purchase a crankshaft off E- Bay! The motor I need one for is this 16HP Briggs Vanguard 303447 1179 A-1 5718 code 96101511. The one I am looking to buy is this: 303777 0411-01 5526 code 91111911. Will it work? Its listed as removed from a 16 HP vanguard.

Re: Crankshaft help quick!!!!!!!!!!
30= cubic inches
3= design series 7= Vert shaft 7= Plain Bearing pressure lubrication 7= Electric Starter You've got a 30 3 4 which is a horizontal shaft motor. |

Re: Crankshaft help quick!!!!!!!!!!
do I need an exact match or can I use one that follows the nomenclature you gave me as long as its horizontal. Maybe an 18 horse or a 14 horse as long as the fourth digit is 0 through 4? Lets say the first 4 digits were the same could I use a crank that had the last two digits different? Whats my sphere of compatibility? Thans a ton.!!!

Re: Crankshaft help quick!!!!!!!!!!
You need one from a hoz engine so the fourth digit would be from 0-4 (typically a four). I think the 14 and 16hp will interchange, maybe others. I'll try to find out exactly for you.
I've asked Wrenflyer to look into it, he knows tons on these motors...... |

Re: Crankshaft help quick!!!!!!!!!!
Running a bit late.....but.......You engine uses part # 807589, the one on Ebay should be a part # 807586. I don't think they will interchange, more than likely the difference is that the vertical shaft engine is machined for a thrust washer on the bottom side of the crankshaft, next to the oil sump.

Here's some information:
For the vertical shaft engine: http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/...700_303700.pdf For the Horizontal shaft engines: http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/...400_304400.pdf Flintrock, this would be great information for a sticky in the BB section! |
