18hp exhaust port sleeve
So you guys removed these sleeves that are pressed into the exhaust ports? I can't imagine it doesn't restrict flow...

Why would they burn up?Diesels even run Aluminum pistons and heads with 3-5times the compression of gas-engines and exhaust-temps up to 1200F @ the turbo.Aluminum is alot more durable than people think.

They may have added them to help exhaust heat get out into the exhaust instead of transfering to the heads and block,considering the low-speed and load of an application such as a mower.
