Second go around for a Big Block!
O.k......after selling my baby CarryAll II that I had planned for a 29 HP Kawasaki, I just purchased a 1991 Club Car DS , and a 18HP Honda GX610 . Got them both at a pretty fair price. So.....advice? Getting them picked up this weekend, and going to start a parts list. Obviously a new drive clutch, belt ( once it gets mounted and measured ), exhaust, lift and tires. Add to my list if you would. I just don't want to be waiting around on the UPS man for days at a time once I get started! What am I forgetting
1 Clutch 2 Belt 3 exhaust/muffler 4 new filters, fuel lines, etc, (have most of it) 5 lift 6 tires 7 light kit |

Re: Second go around for a Big Block!
Stripped it down to frame and suspension last night. I'll start pictures from this point on. Plan on mounting the engine to the original "swing arm" type motor mount. Going to use the original clutch, for now with a CPP adapter. Looks like I'll need the lift installed, in order to lower the cradle for the height difference in engines. Stripped all the factory wiring, no need for that anymore, right? Lol Kept it just in case though ;) . Always lots of friends to "advise" on the build, so that won't be an issue ! Have a virtually new battery and cables, so that's out of the way too. Ordering some parts today, sending the body to paint tomorrow, and by the way..... Anyone ever paint the canopy to match? Either that, or some guy on eBay is selling a vinyl cover.... Might get one to math the seats..... Rather have painted though. Until next time.......

Re: Second go around for a Big Block!
Here's some pics of the blank slate I started with, then the close fit. Gonna have to cut, drill and tap the crank a bit! Anyone know minimum crank length if I upgrade clutches later in life?

Re: Second go around for a Big Block!
By the way....for anyone searching, ( I tried myself ) the minimum shaft length for any of the clutches to upgrade from stock with a 1" , keyed shaft clutch, should have 2" minimum of shaft left on the engine. On another side note.....Trademark Carts was kind enough to get Allsports to ship a shock extender that had been lost in shipping when the box was split open on one corner. Cudos to Trademark Carts and Allsports!

Re: Second go around for a Big Block!
I painted my canopy, didn't use anything to prep the plastic and now the paint is peeling of when I pressure wash it.
By the way, having a lift to work on your cart, man am I green with envy. |
