Re: Clone header bolts
Hookem, that sounds a little strange, although allen head bolts don't give you the same surface contact/ surface tension a regular bolt would. Are you using a washer and lock washer?

Re: Clone header bolts
Hookm you might want to try this. First in clean the bolt holes with carb spray and install STUDS in the bolt holes with a bit of blue loctite then use your flat washer and steel self locking nut not nylon as the heat will melt it. If the bolts continue to loosen in your block your going to strip the threads and the studs will allow more clamping force. Just a thought.

Re: Clone header bolts
Lock washers, or you can also drill the heads and wire them. With regular bolts you could make a tabbed washer to lock them like an outboard prop nut is. Make sure you don't have some undue force or movement of the exhaust doing it, as it can break the exhaust over time anyway.

Re: Clone header bolts
Lock washers for sure.
Then I'd try studs, lock washers & double nuts. They won't be comin loose again. |

Re: Clone header bolts
I think I have it,I used lock washers & a dab of blue locktite.I don't have room for studs. It is weird because it's a new head.I ran it a couple of hours yesterday & an hour today,so far so good.
Thanks for the help.hookm |

Re: Clone header bolts
Hookm, check to make sure the rest of your exhaust is secure, i.e. no play when moving that could stress the header.
