Briggs 23HP redline with Rev kit/Hi Per Cam
What is the red line on the Briggs 23 HP with the Hi performance cam and rev kit/timing key installed??? I am building a motorcycle and this is the engine choice I'm going with. I also don't know what clutch/driven pulley combo to use for this type of power/RPM's. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I have the same engine. Keep it under 5500 to be safe. If you have a performance v-twins set of rods and pistons you could twist it more real easy.

Re: Briggs 23HP redline with Rev kit/Hi Per Cam
5500 sounds good. hopefully this bike is going to fly! This forum is the only place i could find good info on tuning and upgrades for the vanguards. great links and great karts!
that comet 780 is rated to 5000 rpm's . would running at 5500 damage the clutch or belt or anything like that. Thanks for the help, this is my first vanguard project! |

well if it says that the clutch has a limit, i would not push it.
get the comet 1190 http://www.alphacarts.com/images/products/clutch.jpg then u will not have to worry about anything. . i always say. do it right the first time. |

Re: Briggs 23HP redline with Rev kit/Hi Per Cam
I think that the 780 will do the job just fine, I am not going to be moving that much weight...but I am confused about what driven pulley to use because the 780 clutch doesn't come with a driven pulley.
I looked on comet's site and found nothing. |
