Flipped belt???
I was wondering if anyone has flipped a belt before? I just installed my new motor, got it broke in and was good up to about 4,500 rpm. I then ran it up to 6,500 and it pulled good , no problems. When I stopped and went to take-off again, I knew something wasn't right. I lifted the seat and noticed the belt.....rib side up!!! What do you guys think? Mark

Re: Flipped belt???
I had this happen multiple times on my 24hp Honda cart. I played with the alignment but was still having issues and it would tear up the belt when it flipped as well. It always occured at higher RPM's. At $35 a belt it was starting to get expensive. After eating up 4 belts I was not sure if the alignment was still to blame or if it was riding up the stock clutch too much. I installed a Comet 1190 and a thicker snowmobile belt at the same time and didn't have any problems after.

Re: Flipped belt???
Carlisle Max II belts are what we use - $95.00 each, the Kevlar belt won't fail. If you're running a big block (at least from my experience) a $35.00 golf cart belt just won't cut it...

Re: Flipped belt???
I was not running stock golf-cart belts. I was using Goodyear Snowmobile drive belts that I got on sale for $35 each that were 47" long but I can't recall the part number. It was much beffier than a stock golf cart belt. Then at the same time I installed the clutch I switched to the Dayco HP3022 and the best price I found on them was here http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/HP3022.html?id=axVJis9Y If you are using a stock golf-cart belt then ditch that first and go with a heavier duty sled belt for sure.

Re: Flipped belt???
I put the stock spring back in (per Tom), and it works great. It pulls hard to 7000 rpm's, let off and it doesn't flip anymore. Thanks for everyones input. Mark

Re: Flipped belt???
Ok I have found your other thread now so I got to know what all did you do to the engine other than the obvious Hi Rev kit?

Re: Flipped belt???
I had this happen to me yesterday on my 23 hp cart's maiden voyage. Is it a clutch alignment issue?

Re: Flipped belt???
I had this happen on my clubcar after I installed a 24 hp honda. I figured out the clutch was closing to far. Put it in nutral and rev it up and see how far out the belt comes.
