It's close, exhaust is done, engine mounted, clutches aligned etc. Still have to do the carb. Work has been getting in the way of fun...

Yeah its 80F here sun is down and I got a t-shirt on. I'd be riding if my cart were here, so I had to take a spin in family's hog utv but its not as much fun.

We're all just excited that your G1 project might just open up new power avenues for us all! I know it's been done before, but you seem to be doing a better job documenting and checking things. I already have my eye on a 250cc bravo on CL....

Hmmmm, I wrote a note and posted it I think...Anyway, I got the carb set up worked out. In order to clear the oil pump and orient the carb I had to fabricate an adapter plate and use a 90 degree cast aluminum elbow intake manifold runner from the sled wreckers. Have no idea what it is off, it was in a box with a pile of stuff. You can see the result in the attached pic. I will make the adapter pretty after it works I have good access to the high speed adjust needle and the low speed is on the other side, also good access.
One thing for sure, any excess fuel is definitely going to run into the engine, not out of it. You can also see the compression relief valve for starting that this engine has.

It is an any draft you want carb. It is a Walbro WB31, this particular one came off a John Deere sled from the 70,s that had a Kohler twin 340 engine. It is what is known as a pressure carb, there is no fuel bowl, just a small pressure chamber inside the "stack of pancakes" that meters and squirts the fuel into the air stream behind the butterfly. I personally like these carbs. No fuel bowl means no spillage on tip over. No fuel splash and agitation on bumps etc. I particularly like the tune-ability of the carb. One slow speed needle and one high speed needle. Easily accessible for adjusting idle and high speed, no fiddling around with jets if its a high altitude, hot day, whatever. Very similar principle to an aircraft carb. Woo hoo inverted flight no problem!

Man that thing is sweet. I like the idea that it doesn't care about angle since there is no float. Almost as good as efi! LOL!
