So did mine, also my motor came with a 2in key but neither worked.

Today I got the belt, tied in the electrical and got the cart up and running but I have some problems: First the motor wont turn off when I put the key in the off position. I know this has to do with the 2 black wires that come off the control panel, where do they go? the engine only has one brown wire coming off of it and I know where that goes.

Now the engine wont idle, how do I fix that?

WOW What a difference. Just did some throtal cable adjustmentso it is runnig perfectly and idles. Their is so much more power. I can spinn my 20in tires in reverse on pavement. The engine is awsome sooooo much more power.
I took the cart up a short steep loose dirt climb with no problem, granted I used to be able to do it with the stock motor but it would take me about 10min, and I would have to slide around on the seat to put more wheight on the spinning tire and would have to back down 5 times due to no power or traction and now I'm up it the first try even with a tire spinning. The moral to that story was with the far greater power to weight ratio you will find the cart will be able to do thing you would never try with a stock engine, so power = traction.

That sounds awesome. Glad to hear you got it ligned out. I've been following your build as I'm trying to decide what to do with my cart. You went 16HP Hondaish didn't you? Any idea how many RPMs you can safely run? It looks like the stock governer on the clones is set to 3600rpm but I'm curious what guys are actually running them at.

Yes it is a 16hp honda clone. My governer broak during the install so I set up a bunch of bunggy cords to close the carb. Thats why I had problems with idleing and throtal adjustments. Anyways I think I'm into the whole motor swap for only about $600 give or take. You could have the whole swap done in a weekend if you order the motor and clutch at the same time. I did not because I tried to cheap out and use my old stock clutch, but still had to buy the 780 and wait for it to be shiped, so I didnt have mine done for a week.

Did you have to fab anything up besides the engine mounts? Did you have to have the output shaft on the engine machined at all?

No I did not have to fab anything else. As far as the shaft I did have to grind the key because the clutch key port was not deep enough. Easy fix took me 5min

Ok so what you did was buy some u-bolts and square stock for your mounts. Did you wire your switch for turning it on yet. What is the thread pitch and size of the bolt you need to hold the clutch on?
Thanks

Yes to the engine mount part. I did wire the electric start in but I do not have a way to turn off the engine. For what ever reason the off switch on the ignition will not ground out the coil. So I have to use alternative ways to turn off the motor. I have no idea what size bolt I used to hold the clutch but I do now it is not a 7/16 fine thread. I ended up useing a bolt that I found on the ground I think it may be a 7/16 machened thread.

Got some more pics. So any idea if it is safe to get a belt that is thiner or wider than OEM? If so than by how much?
I'm asking this on another thread as well. The Chinese Honda Clone Thread

I have the same engine as this, but the shaft is not 4.75" inches long and that looks like what we need to install the Comet Clutch. How are you accomplishing this?
Thanks,
Bud

I did not increace the length of the shaft if thats what ur asking. My 780 slide right on after some grinding of the key. Did you try to put the clutch on yet or are you just comparing the shaft length to the recomended shaft length for the clutch? I dont think that my shaft goes all the way 2 the end of the clutch and I havent had a problem yet with the clutch, but you will need a long bolt to hold the clutch on to the shaft
