Default Newbie Needs Help with clutch's and belt for a 16hp Vanguard into my Jacobsen Please

I'm new the forum ,I'm new to Carting too. I just picked up a Jacobson Hauler 1110 , I need help Please, I just picked up a 16hp Vanguard , 1" straight shaft, 1/4" key way to put in my jacobson. What do you recommend for the clutch's on the motor and trans and what Belt do I use ?

My Robins motor didint come with a clutch on the motor or the belt and no clutch on the rear end and the rear end is splined . I dont even know if the robin runs and I didnt want to have to spend the money on a clutch for it to see if it does. So I'm starting fresh. I have a lift on it with 24"x9x11 tires on it

Since the rear end has splined shafts, Do I have to buy the stock driven clutch for it ? If so since I'm using the Vtwin vanguard do I need 28 degree or 36 degree ?

What Drive Clutch do you recomend ? Can I use a 40 series style or 780 series style ?

What belt do I use ? The stock size that origanally belongs on it ?

Any and All recomendations are greatly appreciated !

Thanks Randy

Hi Again , I need help with a belt length. I'm using a stock 36 degree rear driven pully which is 9.5" in diameter and I'm using a comet/salsbury driven clutch which is 7" in diameter . the measurement from center to center of both pullies is now 13 1/4" . with the stock Robin motor in the stock mounting position it was 10" center to center , stock outside diameter measurement is 42" .

So what size belt would I need now ? can anyone help me please ?

Thanks Randy

Well, I would say you need a belt 1 3/16 x 45 1/4", but here's how to be sure, courtesy ScottyB:

Take a cloth tape or string and start down inside the drive clutch down on the shaft, run the tape or string around the outside of the driven clutch on the back and then back to where you started on the drive clutch to make a circle. Check that measurement on the tape, or mark and then measure your string, add two inches and that is your belt outside measurement. Ideally you would slot the engine mounting holes so you could move the motor a little to adjust. Post up the measurement you get and we'll help you find a belt.......
