16 HP Briggs in 2000 ezgo txt
Neighbor just bought a 2000 ezgo txt not running. He got a heck of a deal. Abought an hour we got it running somewhat. The 295 robin runs but is very weak. tested cylinders 120 psi on 1, 30 on the other. He has a new Briggs 16 hp vanguard that he wants to swap. I read through most of the stickys and searched 6 pages in this section and this is what i came up with:
*clutch will work *may have to fab up a mounting plate for B&S *its better to use the starter and built in alternator since the generater may not turn the v-twin?? * he will have to get a keyed switch for start *fuel system will work Anything i'm overlooking? He is wanting to run lights and a radio. We was looking at my alternator on my cushman. I told him if the built-in alternator would keep everything charged we didn't have to do that. if anyone knows of a good build thread on this let me know. thanks again. |

Re: 16 HP Briggs in 2000 ezgo txt
Unless the ezgo gen is different in a yamaha they will start a v twin, each cylinder is actually smaller it may turn easier (than stock yam and cc single cylinder). Its just that most people want them to run like a utv, like a car. Depends on what stator setup is on the vanny how much it charges. The gen is usually 15A some keep it on there just to charge and don't use the starter. There are lots of great threads here just have to sift through them. If he wants to go fast yank the governor parts out of the vanguard and get a rev kit for it, they are not that much and then you can run the rpm up quite high for more speed. However you will not get much on a stock cart you need high speed gears or to lift the cart with 22 tires or more. If you don't lift it you will have to be careful of clearance to the seat and so on but it can fit in there.
