No choke start for Honda ???
Any way to get my GX620 to start without choking it other than putting a different carb on it? Which I might do in the future .

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
J, I dont know of any way. I put a door lock actuator with a return spring on mine and put a momentary (horn switch) in the choke spot on mine. Works like a champ

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
Put bigger pilot jets on it. 45's should do it.

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
Sorry, gx620 is a different setup. #60-65 pilot jet
Or you can add a primer like this. Or remove the governor, it keeps the throttle wide open at start-up, making it hard to cold start. |

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
You can also use a solenoid (actuator) off an old outboard, many of those had electric chokes. The door lock actuators are really cheap on amazon, possibly through parts express I forget. You can even get remotes cheap that will run any 12v thing on a car, with a little key fob remote. If you can get the governor to turn the throttle off at rest, you can richen up the idle circuit that helps a lot. I had to cut a slot in my idle screw they break them off on clones, then heat with a solder gun to remove (locktite). Put a new one in to adjust. Some old engines had another link or spring that pulled the throttle off at idle, but I think it was on there for run-on reasons.

SO, ,,,,,,,,,, the throttle is open at start up ? That`s why you have to close the choke ? That makes since .

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
Exactly.
When you delete the governor, you shouldn't have any trouble starting it. To test it, close the throttle manually and then turn the key. |

I have been using a pull, push adjustable actuator for my forward / reverse selection Scot but they aren't cheap. Do you think one similar to yours would be powerful enough to get the job done ? Those things are all over ebay and very cheap. Very nice install btw. I bet that saves a lot of headaches. FC |

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
Thank you, but no. These dont have enough might to be able to pull the F/R lever.

Re: No choke start for Honda ???
You could try the trunk pull, but I think they only go one way, and not sure it would do it. A window motor would, but maybe hard to connect. A chevy truck uses cables, and if it didn't work simply make the lever longer for more leverage. But they have quite a bit of power.
