Default Exhaust gasket - Does it matter which way it is installed

Installing exhaust so bought new Honda gaskets. Sort of look metal with dimples. One side is flat and the other is rounded...like a pillow if you know what I mean.

Does it matter if the flat side faces the exhaust pipe or engine? Does it go on dry or does anyone add anything?

Dry, domed side out, flat side against the engine.
