if it is off a lawnmower most likey it is a vertical shaft motor. you need a harizontal shaft . as far as the clutch i am not sure

if it has a 1 inch shaft, and is horizontal you can use it.

There is a section in the front of this forum which detail the charging aspect of each of the v twin models.. meaning, if you look at the wires coming out from the motor, it can clue you in as to it's charging capabilities..

to use the 1 inch shaft you will need an adapter to use the stock clutch, or purchase a clutch that works on a 1 inch shaft.

The adapters are available at CPP.

No,,

It DOES matter where it came from..

It has to be a 1 inch horizontal shaft. Some gen sets can be used, but that is another topic, those shafts have to be able to be machined to 1 inch or the stock taper, and if there isn't enough metal it cant work.

If you are going to spend 6 bills, you might want to slow down and review this carefully, because somehow you aren't reading what I wrote.. there ARE LOTS OF topics about these engines, and you need the info.

"f it has a 1 inch shaft, and is horizontal you can use it.

If you examine a Briggs and Stratton V twin, they all have wires coming FROM the engine, they come out from under the flywheel. They color code these wires so you can easily tell what that particular model has.. some have nothing, some have a 10 amp alternator, some have this, some have that.

Most of them can have a stock Briggs starter added, but not all. You have to look at the flywheel and the engine to see..

Some people have used the stock golf cart starter to crank their engines..

First thing is , your motor you want to buy has to be a horizontal shaft, it has to turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE for most carts, and it has to be *with almost no exceptions* a ONE INCH shaft so an adapter can be used, *very important* , or a aftermarket clutch that will fit the ONE INCH SHAFT.

Hope this helps.

If you can show a picture *detailed* of your cart also, you would get better feedback I bet.. Good luck..
