20HP Vanny in a Hyundai G2???
Has any one done this have pics to share? What will I need to do to the belt drive? Will the rearend handle this power? I know the Yamaha G2 lift will fit the front so I was planning on doing a lift then install this engine. I got the cart for next to nothing with this engine but it currently has no engine in it. Complete newby here!! Thanks in advance!! Matt

Hyundai's where a copy of a G2/G9. The Big Block will fit just like the Yamaha. Will the transaxle last?, guess that's what you intend to do with it.

I assume the Trans axle is the rearend? I was planning on running the stock Trans axle was hoping it would be ok. I'm really not going off road I am building this to pull my race car at the track.

Matt, I can tell you that most every one running a BB is using the stock transaxel from the cart |

Re: 20HP Vanny in a Hyundai G2???
Ok Thanks for the help! I also did a lot more research and found some post saying the rear suspension is different? I think the rear would be pretty easy to lift with some fab work and a welder! I own a Performance shop in the St Louis area Mustang Muscle Performance we do a lot of fabrication work. So another question I have is if the rear suspension is different when I build the rear lift do I need to move the front suspension mounts of the rear suspension also? It seems with such a short distance from the front mounts of the rear to the tires that the motor would be at a pretty extreme incline. Does this sound right? Or am I over engineering it per usual and its really not that bad? LOL thanks for the replies!!!!

Re: 20HP Vanny in a Hyundai G2???
Maybe look at dropping the front cradle mount to get the engine closer to level?

Re: 20HP Vanny in a Hyundai G2???
If your going to lift it, yes, fab some lowering brackets so the swing arm mounts will alow the engine to be level (might take a look at THENEWGUY's ,G9 BadBoy build). Any reason your lifting it to pull your darg car? I've done several BB's in stock highth cars and they just seem more stable to me. You'll love the torque fom that V Twin

Re: 20HP Vanny in a Hyundai G2???
You either have to drop the front of the engine cradle or build motor mounts that make the engine level. I prefer to just drop my front cradle. Post a pic of your rear end I have a couple G2's and I can tell you if they are the same. As for taking the power drop in the 20hp and forget about it. I have a G2 that is getting new suspension right now but it has an 88hp Polaris sport 400 single 2 stroke in it. I welded the spider gears and flogged it a lot to make sure it wouldn't let go. With welded gears on asphalt with stock tires it either does wheelies like you wouldn't believe or you drift around corners (New suspension on that one cause it's going to be a sand only cart). I hope that helps address some of your questions hit us up if you have more and welcome to the most addictive things with wheels!
oh and PS lifting the front is crazy easy I did mine in 3 hours for about $65. |
