Default Briggs 16 hp questions

Can anyone tell me if this 16hp Briggs engine will replace my stock 16hp engine in an ST480? I am specifically interested if the shaft size is correct length and diameter for the clutch. Also can I do away with the electric start on the engine and use the starter/generator I already have on my ST480.

I would say no as it is a vertical shaft. Ezgo's have their own crankshaft tapor so the clutch wouldn't work on it. It laso says it doesn't have an alternator so you would have to add some way of charging your battery. BUT the vertical shaft part completely rules it out as you need a horizontal shaft style engine

DUH!!!!!! I feel stupid. I didn't even notice the "vertical shaft" part. Thanks for waking me up.

Does anyone have the dimensions needed for the shaft, length, diameter and taper?

almost same set up in your st480 as my cushman hawk,..

any horizontal shaft will work, push comes to shove you can get a cpp tapper adapter for a straight shaft.
