Default Electrical issue -wires sparking upon start - Duromax 16hp in CC DS

So, today i fired up my cart and it ran fine, i push down the pedal and the starter generator started yanking away at the engine and it ran. I let go of the pedal and it stopped... as expected. Again i went to start it a few minutes later, and all i hear is a click from the solenoid in the electrical box yet the S/G didn't move. I then removed the electrical box and hit the pedal again. This time i heard the click but also noticed that the throttle cable was shooting out sparks!

I have traced all the cables out as best i could and can not find any frayed wires. I haven't changed anything from when it was running last. When it was running it was just in the garage, not moving. I removed the throttle cable from the electrical box and when i hit the pedal, there is still the solenoid click, no spark, but still the S/G does not want to move.

Any ideas? Let me know if there is any other info you want to help figure this out.

Its an '86 CC DS with a Duromax 16hp in there. Stock clutches. Rewired last year, and was running like a champ.

There a way i can test the S/G to verify it works and is not the problem?

Check your grounds! You should have an engine to frame and body ground. It sounds like to me the starter is trying to ground through the cable. Not good! This should be an easy fix. Take each one off and clean where they are mounted. If you can't find these, add them. You can't have too many grounds!

That was it! had a spare battery terminal cable, ran that from the engine to the frame and she fired up like a bat out of hell. Thanks for the tip!
