If the yamaha clutch is tapered shaft, I guess you could use a CPP adapter on it..
I am not a yamaha person, so I don't know what kind of clutch it is, if its taper or straight. Your briggs motor has a 1'' shaft with quarter inch keyway ? right ? |

yup, i know i'll prob have to trim the crank length ect, just cant afford to buy a new clutch, and am hoping to use the fact yamaha clutch. The motor runs great and will idle down pretty low.

Re: 16hp vanguard in a yamaha
The only problem with the Yami clutch is they dont use springs in the primary. So, it's not a good option on a BB. You would likely have to turn the engine off to shift from forward to reverse and would not be able to idle the cart.

Yep, would be, but it needs to be modded for a 1-3/16 belt and it'll need the stiffer spring.
When you can get a new, more durable clutch for $300 or less, I would invest the money and sell the other 2 on ebay. |

Re: 16hp vanguard in a yamaha
You could also use a relay and set it up so the engine starts and stops with the peddle like the stock engine. That way shifting won't be a problem.
