Finally BB'd my G2
Well I got my 23hp Briggs kit from CPP on Friday. Had it in in about 4 hours. I had a few set backs durng the installation.
1) I didn't have a 30mm socket to remove the flywheel so I wasted some time at the auto parts store to get that. This was for the advance key installation. 2) The engine mount was slightly bent so I had to pull the engine out, take off the mount and straighten it a bit. 3) It was a tight fit and a bit of a knuckle buster to muscle the engine in. I would suggest removeing the air box before putting the engine in. Gives you more hand and arm room. After that it is really a snap. Mount the key switch, connect the battery and fuel line and your done. The header went on real easy and the muffler was easily secured to the rear diff pretty easily with the supplied piece of metal stock. It took about 3 turns of the key (probably just enough to get fuel to the carb) and she fired right up. Nice sound, no too loud but people know your coming. I get a slight backfire/miss at idle I'm trying to work out. Has a slight hesitation when throttling up but that has seemed to get better. I will try new NGK plugs and probably a K&N filter. Any other suggestions? I have spent the last few days just cruising the neighborhood at various RPM's to break her in. Jumped on it a few times, wheels lifted up about 2-3 inches and it gets to the govenor pretty quick. Overall a nice product that anyone with average mechanical skills could handle. I can't wait to get her up to our club and put her to work. |

COOL MAN!!!
Along with your new plugs and K&N, when you get the break in oil out of it go with full synthetic oil and a new filter. |

Also, here in Florida the gas stations are pumping 10% ethanol gas. Has anyone experienced any problems with this mixture? |

I use Mobil 1 and get filters from a local lawn tractor shop.

Re: Finally BB'd my G2
the briggs with the stock 2 barrel carb seem to have a idle issue. even with my upscale plugs, carb clean still had it. I trimmed the tabs on the idle screws and took it up another 1/2 and that helped more.
mobil 1 oil . will put royal purple in it next oil change. I would try the Vtwin Performance air filter adapter and k&N filter. |
