Default 96 cc big block build

Finally going to get to start my big block project. I bought this cart at the first of spring. It was just a factory 96 cc gas with the fe290 engine. I have since put a 6 inch a-arm lift, 23 inch wheels and tires, windshield, stereo system, and now it's time for a bigger motor. I am new to building carts but am exited about the extra power. If I ask some dumb questions y'all will just have to look over me. I have picked up a 18 hp vanguard with the 1 inch shaft, electric and pull start. I have studied all the big block posts and have decided to get my driven clutch from cpp. The drive clutch I found is a comet 94C off of eBay. The only question I really have is will this drive clutch work? Also from what I have read the engine should be pretty close to fitting in the original cradle with some modification? Any advise on the engine mounting would be appreciated. I hope to get the motor tommorrow and will start posting picks soon. This site is awesome I have really tried to learn about these carts and the build to be somewhat prepared for things that could go bad but I'm sure I will have a lot of questions. Thanks

Got the motor yesterday for 400.00. It has elec start and pull start with 1 inch shaft. I put the motor in the cradle and two bolts in the front lined up, but the rear bolts don't. I wired the motor up and it runs great. I am almost ready to order the clutches from cpp. Then I will be able to see how to line them up and if I can actually use the front two bolts. Will I be able to find a belt after mounted or do I need to by a belt and mount the motor to fit the belt? Thanks I do still plan on posting pics but need to get a new laptop first the iPad won't let me post them.

My motor is not charging the battery. I pulled the flywheel and replaced alternator but it's still not charging. Is the voltage regulator the only thing left to replace?

I know it sounds crazy, but the regulator needs 12v to turn on. If you don't have that it won't work.

I have another question. I have decided to use a Polaris drive clutch. In the clutch options sticky it says to bore clutch 1 inch x 3.75 deep and broach a 1/4 inch key way. My question is why does the clutch have to be 3.75 deep when the shaft on my 18 hp Briggs is only 2.75 long? Thanks again for halls comments

Big bird, you need enough shaft to tighten up the bolt on the clutch. Not familiar with that clutch, but you will need to shim it enough to keep it from rubbing anywhere on the block. You can move the engine left or right with proper bolt locations, and then determine where it should sit front/ back. Lots of belt length options out there, check the charts in the stickies.....

I got my adapter from cpp yesterday it worked great I used a Polaris clutch for the drive clutch. I was wondering if y'all thought the driven clutch would work or not? I will be using a 1 1/8 belt like on a Polaris. The stock driven clutch is meant for 1 inch. Any advise would be appreciated thanks.
