We've all been talking about wiring on these clones and here's what I believe to be true. I think our Chinese friends wanted us to unplug the two black wires on the starter side of the motor and plug them into the two black wires that come off of one point on the ign switch. I've been testing and that allows you to start, run, and shut off the engine. It allows the low engine warning to still be in the circuit but shorts that circuit to ground in the off positon which kills the motor.

I will try that when I get it running. right now it looks like the clutches centerline to centerline will be 13.5" does anybody know what size belt I will need? Also, how do I align the clutches?

I lined mine up center to center and then ran a stait edge along the inside (motor side) of both clutches to get them square. I'm still wondering if that was the best way but they sure look right and seem to operate fully and smooth.

I wired the engine the way cclingma said and the engine works correctly and shuts off with the key.

The cart is officially complete. Today I put the body back on. This engine has so much more torque than the stock one. I GPSed a top speed of 23mph which is the same as stock without a governor. I am running a belt from a 1976-1987 EZ-GO Marathon which is 45"OD. My only complaint is the charging system. My lights are so dim that they are almost useless and I am running a marine/rv battery. Also the engine is loud much louder than stock but I like it.I put a bicycle speedometer from walmart on it and it is dead accurate.

So far I have logged 50 miles on it in three days with a top speed of 24.3mph. I haven't gone full throttle for more than a few seconds but 25mph seems promising. On a fully charged marine/rv battery my lights are still dim with the engine at anything above idle. From a standstill, I can almost lift the front wheels off the ground and occasionally get some tire hop.

The cart is still running great and break-in is almost done. I have about 120 miles on it and its awesome I have lifted the front driver side tires about 4 inches off the ground and some great gravel donuts.

Sounds like you've got yours running stronger than mine. I'll have to keep messing with air and fuel.
I wonder what's up with your lights. I have two 55W headlights and they are very bright. How did you wire them? Do they go through a relay? Do you still have the diode between the engines chargining circuit and the pos of your battery? |
