Default clutch question

I'm putting a Briggs Vtwin in my 92 CC,should the drive & driven be the same height? Right now the driven is 3" higher,I can jack the engine up if need be,I just want to get it right the first time for a changethanks, hookm

The height doesn't matter,They can run any angle you want,as long as you maintain alignment and the center-to-center distance that you need.I raised my motor up,so that I could move it farther back, closer to the rear-axle.Belts are alot more forgiving of angles than chain-drives.Hope this helps.

Should make no difference just like he said, just the distance and offset need be correct. The only change would be the angle the shaft bearings see force, and I doubt they care. One guy on here actually modded his rear body and put the engine above/behind the axle. Even if you change the distance, you just need the correct size belt to make up for it. Might be a good idea to check belt sizes available before you do that is all especially the 1" CC if you use that few sizes are out there. If I had one I would try to change it to a standard 1 3/16 instead. But maybe you know most of that anyway lol. I'm waiting for my exhaust to show up, and could not get my clutch machined yet. So maybe next weekend I will get to play with the clone.

The shaft-bearings in the rear and the motor won't be affected by the angle of load. They are a standard roller-bearing.

I all ready know about alignment & have 1 3/16 belt, thanks though.I'm going to raise the engine 2 1/2 inches, that will make the driven 1/2 " higher. That is so my header will go strait back.I think the mount is the same as the clone,I'll install the engine this week.
