Question Vanguard 18HP Engine???

So my engine took a crap on me. It looks like either the rod cracked, or something internal like that. I am needing to either rebuild it, or replace it. Anyone know of a place to buy new or rebuilt for a good price? Or anyone rebuilt theirs? How much did it cost you with new rods, pistons, etc.? All help is appreciated.

Your 18 hp took a crap? If so, check with Tom at CPP for a rebuild. If it was the stock engine that died, check out CPP's big blocks!

Rebuild it,The parts are very reasonable.I've seen complete overhaul-kits for my Opposed-Twin for under $200.

Doh! I thought I could get a deal. Lol. I may just buy a new one so I can get a 3 year warranty.

I know the Opposed are cheaper, but even if you spent $500-$700,its' still cheaper than a new replacement or buying another used motor, just to have it end up needing a rebuild too.

You better open it up first, if the piston skirts are messed up you'll have to
go a different route.

There ain't much room in those for flying shrapnel, but you might have a good surprise too.. might be something simple..
