CPP 23 -- Yamaha G16
I was trying to keep this under my hat until CAW, but the question was asked in another thread. Yes, I did upgrade to the CPP 23, with cam and rev kit. Needless to say, I'm grinning from ear to ear, and I'm still tweeking things. I think there is too much pedal movement before RPM's increase, and without a tach I don't know engine speed. And if you nail it from idle there is a stumble, but it's new, and I'm sure things will work out. I don't want to push things too early--have less than 10 miles on it.
The install was pretty much a breeze |

re: CPP 23 -- Yamaha G16
Sorry Dave, didn't mean to spoil the suprize Several things I've learned about V-Twins, expecially the later twin barrel carbs, they will "bog/hesitate" thru mid range. They were desighned to run at idle or 3800 rpm (with your cam and rev kit 4800 and higher). That's why I tried Mikuni's. I'm hopeing Rifter will work his magic with a single Mikuni soon. Talk to Tom, he will give you the the "straight up awnser". Also look up and read CC-John's posts, he is just amazing with his knowledge about V-Twins If you don't like the "sound" from the stock muffler, many of us have used a "Supertrapp" style muffler, you can take out disc's to change the noise level and it also helps in "tuneing" the "backpressure" they like to run at. Welcome to the BigBlock club....aint tourque FUN PS-nice job on the install..mister retired!

re: CPP 23 -- Yamaha G16
Thanks alot I need to get a tach--preferably something that can get wet and still function--to check idle and top speed. It hits a plateau that's faster than with the stock engine, but I haven't got it on a straight flat road to really check top speed. It also smells rich at idle.
