Briggs wiring diagram

Alittle embarressed here. I once again tried to hook up the "large Tach" to my 20 hp motor. Switched the spark plug pickup from front plug to rear....went to turn the key and "DEAD","NOTHING". Started check voltage and the "key switch" "red" lead was hot all the time and got a "spark" when the meter lead touched the caseing of the key switch! As I can see the "red singe lead on the key switch" comes out of the regulator. Did I "fry" the regulator ? The part # for the regulator on this engine is 691185, it has 2 yellow leads into a "snap connector and a single red twist connector". Thats why I'm asking for help and a wiring diagram. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks Dave
