Well, I'm confused. I went to wire this seemingly simple setup up and I'm stuck. It looks to me that I'm only going to have 3 wires going to this engine but I can't make sense of how that will work.
1. Positive battery to the starter solenoid
2. To the diode????
3. Control power to the starter solenoid

How would the ignition ever get shorted out? Is the diode what needs to be shorted to kill the engine and which wire is the output of the charging circuit?

Man, I'm suposed to be an electrical type guy.

Thanks! I can use the positive words now that I'm worried about my wiring.

I did some more looking.

I can see the wire coming from the charging coil and it has a regular old diode in line with it. I assume that should just go to the battery to act as the charging wire????

Next I have the starting solenoid. Seems like I would just want to have that hot when the key switch is held in the start position????

Positive to starter solenoid seems pretty strait forward.

This doesn't leave any connection to the ignition coil. Wouldn't that be what would be shorted to kill the motor?

Thanks!

I will tell you how I wired mine. First I conected the brown wire off the motor to the brown wire off the panal. Then I conected a poitive batary wire along with the wire coming off the panel to the ferthest (positive side) termanal on the starter solinoid That will leave you with the 2 black wires and the ground for the batery. I dont know where the 2 black wires with the soderless conectors go, but for the ground of the battery I used a heat plate from the engine.
I cant get my motor to shut off using the ignition, but the ignition is grounded inside the panal. This is how to turn off the motor; Coming off the coil underneth the startor solinoid you will see 4 wires conected together via soderless conectors. Their will be 2 yellow wires conected together and 2 black wires conected together. Take apart the 2 black wires. Then run a wire from the ground terminal on the battery to near the black wire. Then when you want to turn off the engine touch the ground wire to the black wire ferthest from the coil and your engine will shut off. I made the wire longer so I can have them on the dash of the cart for conviniance. To make this a perminant buy a togall switch, that is what I am going to do.

Here's what I ended up with for wiring.

I ran the + battery lead to the starter solenoid. I ran a + lead through a 5A fuse through a normally open contact of the factory CC ign switch, through a momemtary pushbutton, and then to the starter solenoid. I pulled the black wires that go from the the low oil switch and tied them together with another lead that was ran to the normally closed contact of the CC ign switch to ground. Works slick. I turn the ign on and hit the button and it starts, turn the ign off and she's dead.

My problem, not running so hot. The plug looks rich but it acts like it's running out of fuel when I try to get above about 1/2 throttle. I can also see that my fuel filter looks to just about run dry after a few minutes of run time. I'm trying to copy DoubeDs method of running the stock CC fuel pump off of a vac line from the crank that's tee'd to the intake. I'd love to hear any ideas anybody might have.

THanks

Some guys end up investing in a minimal type of electric fuel pump. The motor you have now demands alot more supply than the stock one.

I did a little more testing....

After running for a few minutes with some fairly open throttle time it does empty the fuel filter after the fuel pump pretty much dry. I replaced the filter just in case. Now, even when the filter is full of fuel it still doesn't run right past about 1/2 throttle. Runs so sweet up to that point then just kindda sputters and gives up. I went back to the factory exhaust that came with the clone just to check...no difference.

Here's the wierd part. If I just let it sit after the fuel filter has ran dry, it will fill the line and filter back up. Doesn't even have to have the motor turned over or anything. That's seems odd seeing as how it's a vacuum fuel pump.

I'm interested. Do you know which one he used or have suggestions? I'm about to run out of money on this thing.
