I hated to keep hyjacking others post so I thought I'd start one on my build. 96CC that's getting a Clone 420 and Comet clutch. I'm trying to use the stock cart exhaust and intake although it looks like I'm going to have to order an adapter for the intake portion. The engine is bolted in and the drive clutch is on. I've done no wiring and the driven clutch still gets machined and spacered to accept a 1-3/16" belt. There's no spring in the driven clutch right now at all. Any thoughts, ideas, or heads up are always appreciated.

Looks real good. I was wondering about height requirements for the engine. Did you have to lift the cart to mount the engine?

I am doing a 13 hp clone build and I was wondering where are you getting your intake adaptor at ? I need to get one as well.

If/when I order the adaptor I believe it will be from these guys. Someone else on here post this link and said the quaility was good. They have some performance goodies that I'm trying not to even think about.....yet.
http://www.affordablegokarts.com/mm5...gory_Code=GPPX For now, I think I'm going to use the bottom half of the clone air filter. If you seperate the halves, the bottom portion isn't too big and provides a opening that will accept the stock CC intake hose. I just don't want to keep it that way because it looks like it will block any access to the throttle/carb linkage and stock CC black box which is where I hope to house my fuse block. |

Looks good. Did you have much trouble finding a belt to fit? How far off were the mounting holes from the old engine to the new one?

I went with the belt that others, including Tom at CPP, recomended. It's for a 1989-91 EZGO. I believe it's 41" long and it definately is 1-3/16 wide. I'm going to make a spacer for the driven clutch to start it out 3/16" wider than stock and then cut a relief for the snap ring to allow the clutch to open 3/16" further.
My mounting holes are about 3/4" closer to the driver side and about 1-3/4" forward of stock. I'd have to measure to be sure though. |
