Has anyone done a successful mikuni swap?
I've looked through threads here and there and it seems like everyone has had problems and gave up if anyone has seen a good working setup could you please give me the link.
Thanks Jason |

I have one that I'll be swapping in soon, also going to build up the Vangard a little. I have to build a 2 barrel intake so the adaptor for the Mikuni will bolt up.

What size carb you thinking Rifter at first I was thinking maybe a 38mm but one of the mower guys told me these motors don't like a lot of carb and said he used a 30mm so i was Gona get a 34mm and see what that does, I can't find anyone one here that has done it and had a success

Re: Has anyone done a successful mikuni swap?
Single, good idea! 38 to 40mm should work well. If you do a search "carberator upgrades for Vangaurds" is a pretty good read. I went twin 30's on Wilson, but the throttle cables were not easy and I still think I'm losing fuel at top end. I've been toying with a High output fuel pump or maybe 2, but it runs so nice and fast now, what more do I need. Good luck with your build

Re: Has anyone done a successful mikuni swap?
Thanks smallblock your build looks great! And I have seen the twin setups from mud motors but it seemed like it would be a hassle to me with tunning and syncing two carbs and cables, so that's why I chose single here is the carb I am thinking of.

That link wouldn't come up for me, but I've heard nothing but good about Mikuni flat slides

Minimized flatslides are a great carb, I had twin 34's on a yamaha banshee I used to have.
