Default Cc 18 hp

I installed the 18 vanguard in my club car and it runs great. I have 23 inch tires and top speed is about 30 mph. I used a Polaris clutch and I have to shut the motor off to switch from forward to reverse. Starting the motor so much causes my battery to be weak. I have the rear clutch from cpp and was wondering if the front clutch they sale would solve my problem of having to shut motor off to change from forward to reverse or is this a problem I just have to deal with. I have tried loosening the belt but cart still try's to pull. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Something doesn't sound right... Shouldn't need to shut it off for reverse. I'm thinking the belt is still too tight or you may have the wrong size belt. Can you post some pics of the belt and pulleys?

Either the belt is too tight or your idle is too high. If you can back the idle off to keep the primary clutch from beginning to engage, that should allow you to shift. If that doesnt do it, slide the motor back a little to loosen the belt.

I found the problem thanks for the replies the front clutch (Polaris clutch) isn't releasing pressure off the belt which is making it hard to shift. I'm just going to have to buy the front clutch Fromm cpp to solve the problem. Again thanks for the comments.

Bigbird, talk with Tom at CPP about the CVTech clutch like he sold me. It's got an idler bearing in it. You can get the belt as tight as a banjo string

Tom is the one I got my rear clutch from so I will get the front clutch from him also. Where I live about 70 miles south of Nashville there isn't any mountains but we really like living in Tn. I have lived here all my life and can't imagine living anywhere else. Thank y'all for the help.

I'll bet its pretty nice country down there! I would love to visit TN sometime. Any trails or riding parks down that way?
