Honda 24 modifications
I have a cart with a 24 hp honda that has 26 inch tires and probably goes about 25 to 30 mph. I'd like to get more top end and am thinking about higher gears. Are there any modifications I should try first? Remove the governor? How do you do that? And what will the higher gears do for the top end? I'll be pulling the engine out anyway as there is a small oil leak I need to find and repair.
Thanks |

Re: Honda 24 modifications
HS gears will certainly increase top speed but take some torque away at low speeds. You can get more rpm out of the engine if you have stock governor on it you can change the spring iirc and make it somewhat higher. Above that you can get a rev kit for them now that upgrades the vavletrain and get little higher rpm yet but I don't recall how high. You can't rev them as high as vanguards they will do 6K with a rev kit but I think you can do at least 5K. Stock is 3600 or so likely 4K if you adjust the governor. There are threads on hondas here if you dig a little. Unless you have the brand new model I don't know about that one it is different and ignition is electronic with rev limit. Then your only option is more gear.
Maybe someone into hondas will get on and have more detail, also post what one you have. |
