Default honda 20hp v twin

Wondering how to get better throttle response on the v twin Honda? It is slow to rev up and I would like to get a little better without spending a bunch of money.

Replace the governor spring with a stiffer one. This will also raise the rpm limit.

The honda engines were designed to run at a steady speed and thus didn't need to be designed for throttle response.

I am not aware of any of our supporting vendors selling one, so here's the link:

If I am wrong someone please correct me and delete the link.

There will still be a slight bog while the spring tensions the throttle, but it will be much improved.

I will try a few I've got and see if they will work. It would be nice if you could install a rev limiter like my Yamaha golf cart has then do away with the governor.

I have a wire in place of my spring I also have a timing advance key and valve springs and maybe push rods ??? Don't remember about the push rods though. I got my parts at parsonsracing. A lot of the Gx390 parts will work. I was told that it won't rev fast enough to hurt without intake and exhaust work. That was from a racing parts supplier. Don't know if it is true or not. ????? I need a tack.

That's interesting since I was told that the Honda V twin was notorious for blowing up from over reving with the governor removed.

I still have my governor. I just have a wire in place of the spring I should buy a tach. Too many toys and not enough money to keep up with all of them. :(

Does anyone make an analog tach that will work on this motor?
