| It seems that alot of us are using Chinese Hondas in our carts. I think it would be a good idea to put all the information and other helpful stuff about these engines in this thread as well as questions. One thing I learned with the help of others on here is how to wire these engines. For wiring, you -connect all like colors -unplug the black wires from each other on the motor and connect them to the ones on the starter box -put the blade connector on the starter solenoid -put the stud connector wire on the closest stud of the solenoid to the starter box as well as the positive battery cable -connect the negative battery cable to any ground I also will have pictures of how I ran my throttle linkage My question is how does eveybody run their choke cable. Also, it looks like the choke is labeled wrong I looked inside the carb and when the sticker says the choke is on it is off and vice versa. |

Same here on the choke. That caused me alot of confusion as I didn't pay attention until I had already covered it up.

| I will check my choke too. I know it hard to start. I have to hold throttle down crank and then bring it to half way. Then she starts. |

| I have found in the past is that the choke is reversed on many knock off motors just remember it as: OFF is blocking the air off (meaning its choked) ON is allowing normal air flow |

| I completely removed everything to do with the governer both inside and outside of the motor. I tapped the hole that the governer shaft went through and use it for vac for the fuel pump. |

| I am still running the governer on the engine. I can go 25mph and that's fine with me. I can pull my waverunner up a really steep hill at about 5mph. |

Bordin34, Did you get the throttle linkage hooked up and working? Got pictures? My 16hp clone came yesterday and I will start to install this weekend. The info here is great. Thanks, Bud

| yes, I did get it figured out rather easily. I do not have my cart with me, 90 miles away, so I will try to explain it as best I can, if you don't understand just ask for clarification. What I did was -Used the stock throttle cable -1/8" thick L shaped piece of metal about 1" tall and as wide as where it mounts -It mounts on the cowling under the muffler where it looks like a cable should go -I drilled a hole in the long end of the L the size of the threaded part of the cable -Hack-sawed a little slit on the side of the long slot of the L as thick as the cable -Loosened the 10mm nut on the throttle lever on the engine -screwed the L onto the engine -attached the throttle cable like you would on the stock engine -clearanced the cowling a bit with a screwdriver and hammer, very little bit -took off the gas pedal and make sure WOT and idle was right probably really confusing I will try to take pictures this weekend and will draw in paint soon. |

| Yes it does sound confusing, but I will take a another look at it. Now I am trying to figure out to make the 1" shaft stretch out to fit the 780 clutch that I bought to go with this. The XP16HP engine comes with a 2.75" long shaft, but the Comet clutch needs 4.75" shaft. I just need 2 more inches! What are you guys doing to lengthen the shaft on the China clones? ![]() Thanks, Bud |
