Question New digital Tach-what setting now???

I have a 18HP Vanguard and I just bought the digital tach for it. It says to attach to spark plug wire. Works great. Now what do I set it at? How many times does spark plug fire per revolution? I have it set at one per revolution. Is that right? Options are once per, two per, or every other. Please help so I make sure is reading correctly. Thanks.

If it's a single cylinder 4-stroke engine the spark fires every-other revolution.

Its a V-twin Vanguard 18hp. Is that once per revolution then?

Sorry guys, been busy with work. I bought a digital tach with hour meter off e-bay. Works great. I will try and upload pics in a bit.
