Re: vanguard tuning
Do you have a video of it running at idle, then working the throttle to a higher range? That would help out with the diagnosis. It would be good to actually see your setup.

Re: vanguard tuning
id drill the jets in .015 thousand increments till the plug reads dark brown..thats what ive been doing..with 13hp honda.
the first time was a big diffrence with just .015 now im building it a lil bit better and will prob go another .015 as i read they are better a lil rich than lean |

Re: vanguard tuning
It is not uncommon to have a mid range stumble in these motors, they're not designed for it, just wide open, idle or off. I agree you need to open up the jets a little.

Re: vanguard tuning
If it is not stumbling at WOT, just running lean, the midrange stumble is likely caused by the low-side jets being too small.

Re: vanguard tuning
Low side jets being the ones that feed the carb after the butterflys correct and main jets being Tue ones that pull right out of the bowl of the carb correct

Re: vanguard tuning
If that's the case they all need to be larger ?

Re: vanguard tuning
That is correct. Be absolutely sure that the carb passages and jets are clear of any debris before opening the jets. The low side jets are used for transition from idle to higher rpm. If you open the throttle all the way from an idle, does the motor fall on it's face? And if you ease into the throttle from idle, is it easier to get it to rev?

Re: vanguard tuning
The carb is spotless clean ultrasonic then with a fine tooth comb on rev up you can punch it no lag doesn't lay down or anythin just at w.o.t whene u back off to half throttle it stumbles like its going to quit but never does and the plugs are as white as it gets
