painted big block
anybody ever paint their big block? any noticeable temp. change?

From Go-Kart racing experience,I would leave the block bare.Paint seals up the surface of the aluminum and insulates it.Not a terrible,fatal amount,but everything you can do to keep it cool helps.Keep in mind,that golf carts don't have the best air-flow,since the motor is up under the seat.Hope this helps.

I agree with Mike. Every little bit helps. Paint the shrouds if you want to spruce it up. If you're driving it right, it'll just end up looking like this anyway...

Thats' clean compared to mine!!!!I painted all the covers and brackets when I put it in,Haven't seen them since!!

I think it's called 'backwoods gray'. I applied it with a really thick roller. They also have it in a spray version.

I imagine you could, since most of the fins are covered up anyway you don't need to paint them....and that is where most of the heat is dissipated.
Wow you guys need some splash guards in there or something. I would have to bury my cart to get the engine like that, and that would mean I was way back in a swamp someplace I don't want to walk out of lol! |
