Default Hyundai, What engine?

I received a Hyundai cart for free that has a broken rod(8.5 Suzuki) it also is missing part of the clutch? that goes on the engine. My question is that I have a Yamaha ttr125 motorcycle engine would this work as a good engine for the cart? I don't need it to be fast although I would hope it would be faster than a lawnmower. I just need something cheap to ride around the pond and to the mailbox.

It may not have enough power, since the bike weighs under 350lbs with a rider, and the cart is over 500 without driver.Get a clone and install that with the stock axle and clutch setup, you'll be much happier. The dirt-bike trans will be a whole other issue, mainly setting up a shift-linkage and clutch of some sort(hand or foot). You can get a clone pretty reasonable, most cases, under $400 for a 16hp unit, but you could get an 11hp if you just want to putt around, with a little better than stock.Hope this helps.

You could use your original clutch with an adapter from CPP,a sponsor here.

CPP adapter is for 1" shaft engines, not sure what a 240 has. You can buy a 390/420cc clone for 300 sometimes less with free shipping too. Try home depot online or maxtool or harbor freight (who has coupons at times). The 8hp might work ok it will not have a lot of power but should get you around. The 13hp (390) will go a little better than stock (usually older stock carts are about 9.5hp when running well), but the 420 is typically nearly the same price with more torque it pulls a cart the best. The blocks are the same. The adapter from cpp is about $50 last I knew so the stock taper clutch will fit, assuming it has that as most carts do. You have to fabricate some things like mount, cable hookup, exhaust, and people do it many ways lots of threads on it in clones section. I've put two in so far.

Some have done electric carts with the 6.5hp $99 clone and they work, but not much power there. And you have to spend more than that on a tav2 clutch system. Of course if you have to buy a normal cart clutch it will be 2-300 for that. However with a clone you have a new engine, the value of the cart should be good if you do a reasonable job installing it.

My 8 HP 240 cc Honda has a 1" shaft. Pretty sure they all are but I can't swear to it. 8 HP will be enough power to get around on reasonably level ground and should do around 10-15 mph with stock tires. Sounds like that's all you want from your cart. If you change your mind the 13 HP 390 clones will bolt right up in place of the 240 Honda. I bought a 390 on sale for $225 here in Ontario last summer at a surplus/discount type store similar to Harbor Freight. Starts and runs every bit as good as my real Hondas. I have it in a 1993 EZGO Marathon with stock gears and new clutches. Haven't GPS'd it yet but it seems to run about 20-25 mph on 22's. That's as fast as I plan on going on a stock cart. Most of the time I just cruise around like the old duffer I am.

I know the gx200 are 3/4 shaft or something, the gokart stuff is different. If 1" you are good to go unless they have a strange clutch on it. Most all carts are 30mm taper. The small end of the taper will be just over 1".
