Default new 23hp vanny

OK, I have just ordered a new 23hp vanny to replace my 18hp vanny in my G16 limo. Need to know if there are any surprises that I am up against with the swap. At present it starts with the floor pedal (generator/starter combined) and the 23 is coming with the key starter. New to all of this so any help and ideas appreciated. We are doing two of the same changeovers as my mate has a G16 with 18hp as well. We are on an Island off Australia with no stores so want to get as much info as possible before we start.

Default Re: new 23hp vanny

Can you give us a little more info about the engine you ordered, such as where it is coming from and what is included in the kit? My 18hp v-twin uses a key ignition instead of the factory pedal system. I stripped all the factory wiring and used the harness that came with the engine kit. All other electronics are run using a wiring harness made from scratch. I used a stereo amplifier kit to create a wiring harness from the battery to the fuse block, and this has an inline fuse on the power cable. The fuse block is a marine grade 6 fuse block with a cover I bought from Bass Pro Shops in the boating section. To shut off power from the battery to the light system and cigarette light outlet I just pull the fuse and store it in the glove compartment. The key switch starts the engine and it runs until I turn the key to the off position. The system works basically the same as a car.

Give me some more info and I'll see if I can help.
