Beamer is finally building
Finally have all the pieces together to start my build. First question of many to came I have the high performance springs, do I still shim the springs with the rev kit shims or are the springs enough by themselves? Today I finished porting and polishing one of my heads and the other will be finished tomorrow.

Re: Beamer is finally building
I would ask Tom at CPP, but he told me if I ordered the rev-kit, I didn't need the springs.
Any pics of the port work? |

I'll give him a call this morning! Here are a couple of pics from the first head. Not sure if its really ported per say but smoothed out all the rough edges and made the transition into and out of the valves as round and flowing as possible!

Re: Beamer is finally building
I talked to Tom today and the word is the rev kit is good for 5500 RPMs. The performance springs should be installed without the rev kit shims and they are good up to 9000rpms! Never will this motor see that many RPMs but I went with the performance springs anyway! One head complete hope to have the other one done tomorrow, **** work keeps getting in the way!

Nice to see you're making progress. Here's some before/after pics of my ports. The difference is definately noticeable at the higher rpms. I put a light polish on the exhaust, and left the intake rough. I also milled them .060"

I have about the same thing going on with my ports. Still haven't gotten to the other head yet. I put the springs on the head that was finished and man alive are those springs stiff!

Re: Beamer is finally building
Finally got both heads done with the springs installed. I modified a spring compressor for cars to help with the springs and that made a would of difference. Finished cleaning the block and honing the cylinders. I was looking at my intake and 90 degree adapter and noticed that the 90 degree adapter wasnt the same size all the way through and had rough edges in it so I went to town on it with me dremal. Here is a picture as I started on the left side and the other pic is of the finished product.

Re: Beamer is finally building
Hard to tell from the pic, but you don't want to polish the intake ports. Doing so will create a laminar flow that will actually slow down the intake charge. You can polish the exhaust ports because they are under pressure. Keep the intake ports a little rough to create turbulence.

They are still pretty rough! I just opened them up and took off the hard angles!
