vanny stroker
i was entertaining the idea of building a stroker engine i have a 16hp vanny what do i need to do to make it a stroker just longer rods ???

Zilla, if you're looking for more displacement, you'd be better off getting a bigger motor. It would be much cheaper, and stock parts are cheap and plentiful.

wasn't really looking for a bigger engine just wondering if you could do it george at ec carbs said he'd been there and done that an wasn't worth the time to try to make it work... oh that was after i posted this ....BUT i love to hear "you can't do it".... like others on here (cough cough) 89....lol

You can definitely do it, but it will be pricey. All the Vanny cranks have the same throw, so you would have to find something custom. Also custom shorter connecting rods. Custom is pricey. If you have a failure, and you will, it will be pricey again. For what the crank and rods would cost, you can buy an entire 23hp motor. Trust me, I love custom... but you better be willing to accept the upcharge when things go wrong.

My manual says the crank throw is the same from 16hp to 23 hp, but I have found different numbers when searching. My manual is from Briggs. Your mileage may vary...
