Just a thought about a swap
I have an 87 ezgo with the two stroke motor, I also have a 16 hp vanguard I want to put in it eventually, could I keep my rear end and use a forward / reverse gearbox with my cvt clutch?

Don't know if you'd have room for it would you?

Re: Just a thought about a swap
I'm not sure what you're talking about but reverse on a 2 stroke is the engine running backwards. You'll have to get a 4 stroke rear end to have forward & reverse with the Vanguardhookm

Ive got more ambition than I have time right now lol, ive been looking for a 4 stroke rear end so the swap would be easier but it seems like all the ones I find are around 600 bucks, and for the price difference it looks like something I could fab up

Re: Just a thought about a swap
I would find out what the weight capacity of the gear-box is,along with the shaft sizing,to make sure you can make your clutches work.If it isn't rated for atleast 600lbs.it won't last long.I would want something rated for atleast 900lbs,considering the stresses put to it if you were offroading it.You should be able to find a rear-axle reasonable.Check out Surplus Center online,They had some Cart-style transaxles for under $400 brand new and complete. We find junk/parts carts quite often, and I can get axles from time to time.Hope this helps.Fitting that gearbox, the motor, and the sideways-drive may get real cramped, real fast.
