Is there an adapter to adapt a 30mm 1:10 taper to 1 1/8"?

Nope, the 30mm tapers down to 25mm at the nose. 25.4mm =1" the shaft is too big.

They do make 1-1/8 clutches or you can have the crankshaft machined

Yea I was trying to avoid buying a new clutch and there isn't a machine shop any where close. I just bought a 20 hp Kohler courage v twin for $50 it has a 1 1/8" shaft. Man this thing only has 350 hrs on it and it runs like a dream I guess I could try a trade it for a engine that would work.

Remove the crank and mail it out. if you have it machined to 1" you can use the adapters. It's at simple as chucking it in a lathe and turning it down. any machine shop or engine shop can do it.

I made a mistake it's not a 20hp Courage it's a 20hp Command. I think it would be easier and probably cheaper to find a clutch that will work after I figure in a gasket set, gas to and from times two, to a machine shop and what it would cost to have the crank machined down. So I'm just going to spring for the clutch that will work. Thanks

I dunno, most clutches are around $300. Phone call estimates are free lol. Even someone like a Napa store might do it for you, speed shops that are not busy, machinist or if you know a small or backyard machine shop with a lathe. Guess they may have to put in a mill to get a keyway back in it, but you don't use a key with the adapter (30mm taper adapter for stock or stock replacement clutches) its just that you can't use a 1" clutch on it without the keyway.

Seems like you could get the taper itself cut onto a 1 1/8 shaft if you wanted. The adapter is very thin at the small end on a 1" shaft.

I'd either machine the crank down to 1", or get a 1 1/8" clutch. Adapters aren't the best way to mount a clutch. I'm having trouble with mine. I have two clutches that I'm experimenting with and they both have different offsets and the spacer doesn't work with both setups. Also, if you don't get the crank, adapter, and clutch perfectly clean, it will not seat correctly and will spin. Not a good situation.

I'm going to get a 1" clutch soon to solve this problem.

I talked to a machine shop today and they want $100 to machine the crank down to 1" and mill the grove, another $60 for the gaskets, $40 in gas and time for tare down, not to mention the 2 hour drive to and from the shop twice. I can get 94c in the 1 1/8" for $244 so it would be almost as cheep to get a clutch the will fit.

Man I didn't think it'd be that much to machine. Yeah, that's alot of work for not much price difference. At least if you get a new clutch you can sell the other clutch and try to recoup a few bucks.

Are you sure you want a 94c? Or is that all that's avail in 1 1/8"?
