Exclamation voltage regulator question...

voltage regulator question.. mine is putting out 16-20 volts at idle now used to be about 12-13 volts ... looking at some on fleabay does it matter which on as long as it has 2 yellow wires in and one red wire out ???? also they look the same too ... what your opinion????

How are you measuring the voltage?

Was the output wire still connected to the battery?
Measure between the output wire and the metal body of the regulator.

No it wasn't when i checked it. i just tested it the other day and it was good and plus it fried my battery too so these test results are the same with a new battery ...

If it's not conncted to a battery that has at least 5 volts, the regulator should have no output.

If that's the case, get a genuine Briggs regulator.
