24Hp honda blown?
Well I am new here and just thought I would say good site. Where to start, well I got a lifted golf cart with a honda 24hp in it and the other day I took my son for a crusie around the neighborhood when all of the sudden bang then it went dead. I knew then that it was toast. got it home and looked under and I had blown a hole right out the front bottom case. Well I pretty much think its a scrap unless anyone has any ideas??
My question is were can I find a honda 24hp at and how much should I pay. I am going to buy new and want to stick with the honda because the header pipe, engine mounts and wiring are all set up for it. |

Re: 24Hp honda blown?
Engine is toast if you blew the side out of the casing. That thing must have been on it's last leg. They are tough engines and can withstand quite a bit of abuse. Check out one of our sponsors for another Honda engine: link in my sig.

Re: 24Hp honda blown?
Not sure what TDW is either unless it is refering to the direction the shaft spins. To remove the clutch, just get an empact and remove the center bolt in the clutch. What price are they asking for the engine?

Re: 24Hp honda blown?
$999 sounds like a good deal. Especially with a 2 year warrantee. Just check on the shaft. It may have to be cut or machined for the clutch.

Re: 24Hp honda blown?
If you decide to get another clutch or have to get another one, here is some info on a comet that should fit that engine:
Comet says this is the unit for the Honda GX670 24HP: The drive clutch you can use is 209739A, this is a 1 1/8" bore and takes a 1 3/16" top width belt. The clutch engages at 1800rpm and will work with the OEM driven unit. The retaining bolt that is with this clutch is a 3/8"-24 3 ½" You will need to get a bolt that fits your crankshaft. Get with comet to verify this but it should still be correct. |

We're heading out Oct. 23 to Gordons for our first trip of the season. Can't wait. Been too long since we played in the sand.
