Cost per Horsepower
This post got me to thinking...
Given the amount of money we all have tied up into our carts, what is the estimated cost per horsepower for your motor setup? I have about $1200 into my motor/supercharger setup. That is a high estimate. I estimate that I am making 40hp. I believe that is a fair estimate. That equates to about $30/horsepower. It costs a bit more to run this motor because the fuel is about $7 - $8/gallon. These numbers are just for the motor setup, nothing else. The numbers for the clutches, etc, will be similar for most setups. What say you all? This should be interesting... |

Re: Cost per Horsepower
15 hp, $260 engine, $75 misc = $22.33/hp After I install my ported & milled head, stainless valves, HD springs, and advance key should have 23hp and a total cost of $460 giving me $20/hp :D

Re: Cost per Horsepower
I have $655 in my engine, including shipping and taxes.
At 30hp, that would be $21.83 per hp. If it was only 25hp it would be $26.20 per hp. So realistically somewhere between the two. |

Re: Cost per Horsepower
Did I calculate this right? Yamaha FZ6 (seen hp ratings from 97 to 115 at rpm) so 97 hp, bought for 600.00= 0.16?
