Default Big Block engine idle without moving

I just installed a big block enign in the ol' 97 yamaha, runs great however is there a way to have the engine running without the cart moving until I step on the gas? To me using the starter to get the cart moving seems a little off. I would think that you should be able to start the engine and it idle until you accelerate. Is my thought process correct? do I need to do something different with the clutch, or the idle speed

The cart does not idle at all? You mean it runs just like a stock cart? Something doesn't seem right. All big blocks I've seen have idled...

it idles, however the cart wants to move, For exapmle when I come to a stop it kills the engine. I would think that it should Idle until I shut it off and the reverse on the start up

well that would be the wrong way to go about this cause just about every big block install is different send us a picture of your clutch setup and we can go from there you either have to the belt to tight or you have a stock clutch without an idle spring , or your primary clutch is not disengaging ,also do you know what your idle is set at , it could be pulling because of to high of an idle speed

I havee attached some pictures. After I got to thinking about I don't have the factory clutch on there. It is a highperformance clutch that delivers more torque. When switching engines I asked about that and the tech rep said that there would be no issues. Should I have the factory clutch on there or a different spring.

CAN you get us a picture from over top looking down at the clutch on the engine , from what i can see that belt is wearing due to being to tight and the deflection that you show pushing on it is a definiteindicator , if i read that belt right it looks to be 41.5 inch belt you probably need at least a 43 if not 44
