Got Busy with my 14 Briggs
Got this engine off of a generator set, the guy said it would not charge
anymore...It had a bad stator (destroyed by a rock or something I presume) as can be seen by the stator mounts (one still has a capscrew stuck in there) being broken up.. It had a generator long wide taper..not sure what that is, but it is the only one that I have found that can be machined down to a stock cart clutch taper. I have long wanted a 14 for some reason..just seems right for what I want to do with the cart. Kind of looking for a 16hp cam for it.. ? EDIT : the crankshaft on the right is a stock Robin I use for measuring , the taper and the thread on the Briggs on the left is the same as a stock Robin. |

Re: Got Busy with my 14 Briggs
Believe it or not, a 14/16/18/20 and 23hp cam will work in that engine. The 23hp will give you a little more lift, that's why they cost a little more.
I have a 14, a 16, an 18, and a 23 cam here. The 14, 16, and 18 all have the same lift. The 23 is installed in the motor, but I know it has more lift. I don't have a way to check the lobe spacing without installing them in a motor. They all look the same by eye. |

well , I gave one to a guy years ago on here, along with some other stuff..HA HA..oh well, I will pick one up somewhere.. so, I don't really need to be concerned with it being out of an 18 or a 16 ? Will those cams do anything to the performance ? |
