Re: honda gx630 rev control
What i understand is the electronic magnetos on the new Honda v-twins have rev limiter built into them and cannot be changed. You could change magnetos, but not have seen any available.

Re: honda gx630 rev control
Also, you might have to upgrade the valve springs to prevent "floating" at the higher RPM.
Not sure if you can even find the upgraded springs for the GX630..... |

Aside from building a new CDI coil or using an aftermarket CDI and External coils, there is no way to bypass it. I've been toying with the Idea of the external coil and CDI because you could run a single dual post coil and cdi with a single pickup and fire both cylinders every revolution. A programmable CDI would allow you to set rev limits and timing curves to your liking. The magnet that drives the coils currently could be used to drive a magnetic pickup. I've done it on a GX390 for a karting application. I don't see any reason why You couldn't just swap the coil and run the same setup for a v-twin. |

Re: honda gx630 rev control
I been thinking of putting my G9 Ignitor on my clone and try to use the magnet for a pickup but think its a hall effect I need to make a ring for it. Great project you did would like to know more about it. The G9 has 0 degree advance at idle then at 2500 it is up to 30 or so and stays there.
I read you can't even take the heads off that new honda, so not sure it has any future far as modifying anything with it. HS gears/clutching might be the only thing you can do. Quote:
