Default Question on Governor removal

Hey all, I finally had a few minutes to tear my v twin apart to have the crank turned. while I am in there I want to get rid of the governor, Do I just take the paddle off the shaft or do I need to take the weights and collar off the cam also??
I did read the sticky on doing this but all the pics are gone so I am a little confused. I want to use the external linkage for now so I need to keep the shaft.

The weights on the cam arent for the governor, they are for the compression release. Don't remove those otherwise you probably wont be able to crank the engine over.

The weight on the back side of the cam is for compression release. The weights on the front side of the cam are for the governor. Drill the 2 rivets out of the plate and remove the front weights.

On a side note, make sure this pin is not sticking through the back of the cam any higher than the height of the compression release weight. Set it to that height and apply green Loctite to the pin. Let it dry before installation.
