Bought a Carryall and a Vanguard...
and they look awesome piled in my garage.
I've been on here for a little while now trying to get a feel for what I'm getting in to and am about ready to get started on a build. I've never built a cart but I am a former golf course superintendent so I've spent many hours driving one. I bought a Carryall from my old course with a blown engine and hopes of bringing it back to life. I about crapped my pants when I saw how much a replacement engine cost. That's when I started doing a little research and read about using a vanguard instead. I found a brand new 16hp vanguard on craigslist for $400 so I bought it. I also have a lift, wheels, tires, and new clutches from CPP. Now I'm ready to get started. It will probably be a slow build but I'm hoping you guys can help walk me through it. I'm not sure I know what I'm getting in to but I've never let that stop me. Here's what it looked like when I got it. I lifted it and put on the wheels & tires I'm waiting on a new snubber before I start mounting the engine. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. I'm worried about the wiring and hooking up the throttle. I would like to run the governor because I want to let the kids drive it around my dads farm. Sorry to be so long winded, I guess I'm just excited to get started. Thanks in advance for any help. |

That thing is gonna look sweet! I like the stance it has too.

It's an 04 with the 6.0 gas I put new bushings in the rear leaf springs this weekend and decided to install the driven clutch. Just a helpful hint anybody installing a lift and new clutch go ahead and install the clutch while you have the springs off. I appreciate the complements on the stance but I decided it set too high in the rear end and since I had the springs unhooked for the third time I would go ahead and drop it. I removed the spring perches that came with the lift and cut about an inch and a half out of them. I hope this levels it out some. We'll see once the paint is dry. |

Re: Bought a Carryall and a Vanguard...
I like the hot rod stance, but I can see where having it closer to level would be good too, it'll look good either way. Watching close for more pics as the build progresses, I'd love to do a Vanny swap into a CC someday.
That 6.0 is a good motor, it just likes the gasoline.... a lot. We've got an 04 Duramax for our tow rig, wouldn't trade the pre-06 trucks for a new one if I could. |

Re: Bought a Carryall and a Vanguard...
Installed the cut down spring perches and it leveled out the cart quite a bit. I'll get some pics when it's not dark outside.
Getting ready to mount the engine but need to bolt my clutch on first. I have the comet 780 from CPP. What size bolt does it take to bolt it on? |
