Default cart with a 750 motorcycle engine in it

I looked at this cart the other day. The person put a 750 Kawasaki motor in it. He built a intake manifold for it and installed a 2 barrel automotive carb on it. He had a hard time starting it and when it finally did start he couldn't keep it running. He has a narrowed ford pinto rear end in it. I told him when he gets it running right to give me a call and I will come back and look at it again.

Hopefully he made a change to the stock front end and added front brakes. An auto carb on a motorcycle will work if done correctly.

I'd look over how the engine and everything else is mounted as well to get a better idea how his work is. If not done right I'd walk away, unless it's extremely cheap!

How much is he asking for the cart?

He's asking $1500 for it

front end is stock with no front brakes.
One of the rear calipers was sticking so he capped the line and removed it. To dangerous to ride it like that though, needs the caliper fixed first and even that wouldn't be enough at higher speeds.

I'd hesitate to buy it if he is willing to just cap a brake line rather than fix it correctly, especially if it only has back brakes already.

What does that say for the rest of the work done on the cart. It would need a much better front end and brakes to be safe and your talking a bit of change or a lot of fab work to do that.

I'd look it over and then make an offer maybe, but not anywhere near what he's asking.

Thank you for the advice, I was thinking the same thing myself. Allot of work and not really sure of the condition of the motor and how everything was put together. Allot of unknowns for that price.

Low ball him,... sounds to me like he has a problem of his own doing. 2 bl carb? homemade intake? From the sounds of it he has a flooding issue. Or he has a starvation of fuel. Maybe not enough fuel pressure. Could be a cool project.

Definitely a flooding issue. It has fuel dripping out below the cart. He actually did a nice job on the intake and carb setup. It may just need leaned out some. It's actually a cool setup, just needs some tweaking and some upgrading but that costs money.

I had a buddy took the 4 carbs off a Honda Goldwing and made an intake for it and mounted an Edlebrock 4 barrel carb on it. That thing screamed when he was done with it. Ran much better and fuel mileage was better with his setup than the original 4 carbs. He said when the 4 barrel kicked in, you better be hanging on.
